Opened in 1996, Timaru Christian School is a small school with approximately 100 students located in central Timaru.  The school is very well resourced and is very blessed with the staff and families who are involved in the school.

 

Our school draws pupils from a wide area surrounding Timaru.

 

We are very strong academically with our averages in national standardised testing generally in the top 30 percent of the nation.  We set our standards high and as a result our graduates are very well prepared for high school.  Our high expectations have resulted in around half of our graduates continually being accepted in extension/enrichment programmes in the local high schools.

 

As a school we often see success beyond others expectations in the sporting arena.  We have a very strong year round swimming program and regularly achieve better than schools five to eight times bigger than us.  We also have a strong basketball team and have recently competed strongly with our first Saturday morning netball team.

 

We have no tolerance for bullying to ensure our students enjoy a very safe, physical and emotional environment where they can develop their God given abilities and we can best prepare them for the future.

 

We currently have four full-time classrooms and an extra classroom in the mornings to reduce class numbers during core curriculum teaching time. We cater for primary students up to Year 8. One administration building, staff room, teacher work room, an extensive adventure playground area, a tennis/netball court and a grassed playing area in the grounds.

Currently we employ four full-time teachers, one part-time teacher and four teacher aides.
